Pulmonary Function Tests Podcast
Detailed information on pulmonary function tests, including the reasons and preparation for the procedure, how the procedure is performed, and after care.

Do you know someone who struggles with any type of lung complication or impairment? Do you often wonder how people, even athletes, continue to perform their daily activities when they have been diagnosed with Asthma? Respiratory therapists have helped thousands of people of all ages who suffer from conditions such as asthma, COPD, and many other diseases of the lungs.

The department has earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care under a national program aimed at helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of respiratory care services available in hospitals. Hospitals earning the QRCR designation ensure patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services.

Martin General Hospitals Cardiopulmonary Department features a staff of trained respiratory therapists, offering a range of services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including:

  • Pulmonary Function Test
  • Emergency care
  • Acute in-patient care
  • Asthma education
  • Overnight oxygen studies
  • Arterial blood gas testing
  • Also a variety of other cardiac and respiratory services

The respiratory care department is also actively involved with student education (clinical site) and school programs, including the dangers of smoking and exercised induced asthma education.
