The intensive care unit (ICU) at Martin General Hospital provides continuous monitoring and treatment of critically ill patients. Because patients in the ICU require specialized care, visitors should understand that their visit might be interrupted or cut short based on the needs of the patient and our doctors.
Our 6-bed facility performs acute clinical care by a group of medical professionals certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
While under our roof, your caregivers can keep an eye on you through a portable telemetry system that specializes in monitoring heart rhythms. In addition, we closely monitor EKG rhythms, blood pressure and oxygen saturation for patients with ventilator, respiratory and cardiac needs.
To make sure all of our patients' needs are met, we make rounds frequently throughout the day. All patients are transferred out of the unit once their condition improves and the ICU physicians determine that they are ready for transfer.
